A skill is the ability to carry out a task with determined
results often within a given amount of time, energy, or both. Skills can
often be divided into domain-general and domain-specific skills.
TYPES OF SKILL
Labour skill is a segment of the
workforce with specialized know-how, training and experience to carry
out more-complex physical or mental tasks than routine job functions. Skilled labor is generally characterized by higher education, expertise levels attained through training and experience, and higher wages.
people skills are defined as the ability to listen, to communicate and to relate to others on a personal or professional level. Good people skills also extend to include problem-solving abilities, empathy for others and a willingness to work together toward the common good.
Life skills are abilities for adaptive and positive behaviour
that enable humans to deal effectively with the demands and challenges
of life.This concept is also termed as psychosocial competency. The subject varies greatly depending on social norms
and community expectations but skills that functions for well-being and
aid individuals to develop into active and productive members of their
communities are considered as life skills
social skill is any competence facilitating interaction and communication with others where social rules and relations are created, communicated, and changed in verbal and nonverbal ways. The process of learning these skills is called socialization.
For socialization, interpersonal skills are essential to relate to one
another. Interpersonal skills are the interpersonal acts a person uses
to interact with others, which are related to dominance vs. submission,
love vs. hate, affiliation vs. aggression, and control vs. autonomy
categories (Leary, 1957).
Soft skills are
the skills that apply to every job. These are your people skills -
interpersonal skills, communication skills, and other qualities that
enable you to be successful in the workplace.
Hard skills are the qualifications required to do the job. For example, computer skills, administrative skills, or customer service skills.
